The Grazer was developed to provide horses with their most primitive need... the need to graze.
Historically, horses (in their natural habitat) spend nearly 80% of each day grazing. This type of slow controlled consumption is essential to a healthy digestive system and overall good health.
Today most of our horses consume their daily nutrition in two feedings, a total of 40 to 60 minutes eating; this equates to less than 10% of their day.
The Grazer offers a controlled feeding program, which allows a horse to consume at a much slower rate in a natural head down position. This head down position is preferred by Veterinarians for reducing respiration problems.
A Brief History Man and Horse
For centuries, man and horse tended to each other's needs. Horses eased the workload of mankind providing not only transportation, but doing all the heavy pulling as well. Man, in turn, provided food and shelter as well as health care.
In centuries past, feeding horses consisted mostly of providing fenced pastures and putting UP hay for lean winter months. The days of man depending on horses as the "Beast of Burden" are mostly gone. So are, in most cases, ample pastures for horses to graze on.
The modern horse, used mostly for recreation, finds themselves confined to small stalls or paddocks most of their lives. Modern man continues to care for them providing sometimes-elaborate stabling, cutting edge health care and a large selection of feeding programs. But we have failed to provide their simplest natural need: "The Need To Graze"
How it works:
The Grazer
Use the feeder for a horse that is stall bound due to injury or illness. It extends the feeding time dramatically. Just fill it up and let them pick all day.
